A new integrated health and fitness facility has opened in Nottingham, bringing together gym services, diagnostics and private healthcare under one roof.
Balance Health Nottingham, located in Edwalton, has launched its gym offering, with clinical services due to follow once Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration is approved.
The centre has been founded and is owned by a group of local clinicians, healthcare leaders and a healthcare building specialist, all of whom are involved in Nottingham’s health system and will deliver services onsite.
The model combines fitness, rehabilitation and healthcare services in a single location, with partners including Rushcliffe Physiotherapy, ENIA Clinics, PodCura and Castle Orthopaedics, alongside technology providers such as EGYM and Pulse Fitness.
Balance Health Nottingham said the aim is to provide more joined-up care pathways for patients and members, spanning fitness, recovery, long-term condition management and mobility support.
Founder Tony Westbrook said the centre was developed to address fragmentation between healthcare and fitness services.
‘We know that people achieve better long term health when clinical expertise, rehabilitation and physical activity are connected. This is about giving the people of Nottingham access to that joined up support, locally and in one place.’
The facility incorporates data-driven fitness systems from EGYM and Pulse Fitness, designed to support personalised training programmes aligned with rehabilitation and recovery plans.
EGYM country director UK Steve Barton said:
‘By combining Balance Health Nottingham’s clinical expertise with EGYM’s AI-powered fitness solutions, we’re enabling members to see measurable health and fitness improvements.’
Balance Health Nottingham co-founder Ben Gooding said the model had been designed to support a range of users, including those managing health conditions or returning to exercise after injury.
The company said Nottingham was selected due to its healthcare and education infrastructure, alongside what it described as gaps between medical care, rehabilitation and fitness services.
The centre is intended to complement NHS and community provision, with a focus on prevention and early intervention.
